Test hysteria

Florida’s state exam is high stakes for schools, which are graded on results, and for students, who risk being held back. Miami-Dade’s school board is worried that test prep is causing hysteria.

School Board member Marta Pérez proposed the measure at a meeting Monday, after hearing from parents and teachers that students were falling physically ill in anticipation of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.

”We want to encourage achievement, but there has to be a way to be able to do that without this hysteria,” Pérez said. “Children are passing out. They are being rushed to the hospital. Children are not supposed to be under that type of stress.”

How much do you want to bet that the FCAT is the only time all year most of these kids are held accountable for anything?

I am an anesthesiologist, but I studied psychiatry back in medical school in 1068.

I know an easy cure for Test Hysteria.

    PREPARE FOR THE TEST

    Not rocket science.
