Student misbehavior -- fighting, bullying, disruption and distraction -- is making "learning recovery challenging," according to the Education Department's 2023-24 School Pulse survey. "Top challenges in more than half of the country’s schools were students being unprepared or disruptive in the classroom," reports Marianna McMurdock on The 74.
In 75 percent of schools, students' "lack of focus" impeded learning and staff morale. Nearly half of schools reported that students are having trouble working in groups, and are unwilling to obey rules on phone and laptop use.
Overall, 83 percent of public-school educators said the "pandemic and its lingering effects continue to negatively impact the socioemotional development of students."
And the teachers didn't even get their defund the police demand satisfied. Well, they tried.
