A new board book retells
The Three Bears story without Papa Bear. Instead Mama Bear is a single parent raising two bears, both of which appear to be female. Or perhaps one of them is a cross-dresser or gender-fluid.
“Classic vintage illustrations have been paired with an updated text suitable for beginning readers,” declares the publisher, Laughing Elephant. “The bears are essentially sweet, rather than menacing, while Goldilocks is more a charming imp than destructive. . . . Despite the havoc Goldilocks wreaks, one does not sense that any serious damage has been done.”
In short, the story has been feminized.
