A majority of U.S. parents don’t want their children to become teachers, according to a recent PDK International Poll, reports Kate Stringer on The 74. The most common reasons cited were “poor pay and benefits and the challenges of dealing with student behavior.”
Two-thirds of Latino parents and 51 percent of blacks — but only 40 percent of whites — wanted their children to become teachers.
